This paper details how a Swedish L2 classroom community of practice for migrant sudents is partly talked into being, molded via shared stylizations and other multiparty alignments, whilst Swedish constitutes both the target language and the lingua franca. Stylizations and laughter significantly affect local language ideologies, which are shaped both via talking over and talking within registers.
