Annotation

On the basis of elliptical conditionals (e.g. 'Open the window and I'll kill you') and hyperbolic imperatives (e.g. 'Open the window or I'll kill you') L. argues that a theory of language to which the concept of 'derivation' is central, is wrong. He also proposes a number of principles that should be met by any theory of language.
