This article presents a mixed methodology of appraisal model tools and argumentation theory ideas, to explore review texts, in particular in the field of modern luxury consumption, which is not freely argumentative but which still preserves an evaluation-basis format that directs its readers toward a specific worldview that they are asked to co-construct and consider rational. A corpus of wine reviews written by the very weighty wine critic Robert Parker is thus analyzed.
