Annotation

Though revitalization policies since the 1980s altered Galician's symbolic and economic worth on the linguistic market, Spanish remained the prestige language. ‘New speakers of Galician’ choose linguistic change and start off the process of majority language substitution. Their (socio)linguistic practices constitute reactions to the sociolinguistic “status quo”.
