This paper addresses the Belarusian language situation in Belarus in competition with the Russian language and Belarusian-Russian blended speech, both of which are broadly employed by young adults. Support for the preservation and promotion of the peripheral Belarusian, appears only a little influenced by global political “Western” or “Eastern" orientations.
