Annotation

This paper evaluates the relative significance of the communicative or symbolic view of Gaelic in accounting for variation in respondents' attitudes towards policy issues regarding Gaelic in Scotland. The view of Gaelic as symbol was more firmly linked to attitudes to policy than the communicative view.
