The paper focuses on how the “neutrality” of the Finnish particle aijaa in responding to informings and its sequential ambiguity are displayed in various steps of a news delivery. Aijaa appears a fit response to inceptive announcements but is nonaffiliative and thence inadequate when responding to possibly integral, valenced tellings. The data are in Finnish with English translation.
