Annotation

This paper examines the metaphorical models used by English speakers in their comprehension of transgenderism. The data disclose two solid models, each holding a range of presumptions weighty to how speakers grasp their lived experience. It is demonstrated how metaphor-eliciting trigger lexemes are linked to each model and can be employed teamwise to show conceptual salience. This inquiry ought to be regarded as part of an increscent research body aimed at unveiling the unwitting assumptions, which organize speakers’ grasp of intricate topics with political pertinence (cf. Charteris-Black, 2004; Lakoff, 2002, 2004; Musolff, 2004).
