Using a Foucauldian and Critical Discourse Analytic framework, this paper shows how the common Irish newsprint media ‘control’ topos towards ‘illegal immigration’, is related to wider ideological conceptualizations of governmentality and national identity, which may add to justified practices of inequity and lockout in Ireland.
