Annotation
This three-year ethnographic inquiry of Math Corps, a community of practice in Detroit, Michigan, in which prescriptive classroom language is employed both to underline beneficial algorithms and to construct social solidarity. This playful linguistic frame, enculturates students into the ‘Math Corps way’, which includes social, moral, linguistic, and mathematical practices and norms.
