Variants in (the social meanings of) the vowels in the trap and bath lexical sets as found on the Isles of Scilly, reveal language contact with Standard English and Cornish English; their spread mirrors educational speaker variation, though their multidimensional meanings are utilized to mirror and build local practices and alignments.
