Annotation

It is posited that humor experience depends on special roles for Kahneman's (2011) intuitive and reflective thought modes. Listener intuitive thought early in a joke is presumed to enhance the odds of coming across absurdity. Reflective thought is supposed to be the device for settling joke inanity. If the latter thesis is sound, reflective thought measures should be more tightly linked to Humor Cognition (Feingold 1983) than intelligence.
