In opposition to a mother wit conviction that balanced social relations are an essential good, it was found, via an Enhanced Rapport Management Framework, that fostering discordant social relations (here in a South African tyre fitment centre) can be grasped as individuals’ rational reply to social and economic situations, especially in state of affairs like in many postcolonial African societies.
