Albeit discursive politeness approaches have successfully operated to criticize Brown and Levinson’s work, they as yet are not -but should be- considered a valid way of exploring politeness and impoliteness itself. It is exemplified what a discursive approach comprises via examining an intercultural interaction between a group of good friends of Dutch and Italian descent.
