Annotation

It is suggested that relevance theorists' description of the double dynamic of forward and backward inferences of speakers’ (non-)communicative goals as basis of utterance comprehension, is also present in action performance and observation, and that we build shared intentional contexts which automatically entangle ours and others’ aims. To explain the entire contribution of mindreading to utterance comprehension, Relevance Theory must weigh the comprehension process in itself, but also how it interfaces with other external devices.
