Annotation

It is argued that a translation exercise may enhance students’ realization of pragmatic differences between English and (L2 learner) Spanish, with specific stress on taboo words. Whilst advanced Spanish L2 students, reproducing two episodes of the British sitcom The I. T. Crowd into Spanish, prudently handled taboo words, translators raised their use exponentially.
