Annotation

It is argued that pragmatic theory needs to revise the interest of intention (and even go beyond it) to clarify that the hearer oft interprets certain meanings that differ from (or are irreconcilable with) speaker intention (i.e. 'weak' communication). Some inference types presented by M. Ariel, and accidental puns explored by S. Lamb and other stratificational linguists, are used as examples.
