Annotation

The Irish Government's Official Languages Act (2003) aimed at assuring better availability and a higher norm of public services through Irish, mainly by obliging public bodies to ensure supply of such services in a consistent and preplanned way via ‘language schemes’. Their efficiency over 10 years of functioning is discussed, whilst there are references to other akin cases, most especially Scotland and Wales.
