Annotation
This study mixes photographic data with the self-declared sociolinguistic profile of 400 interviewees to examine the factors that seem to mold the appearance and relative interest of languages in the public space of the international Bay of Palma (Mallorca, Spain). The linguistic landscape under scrutiny mostly reflects the varied sociolinguistic profile of its (tourist) readership, albeit other motives than the visitors’ first languages seem to affect its formation too.
