This study debates how a teacher in a Learning Support Programme (LSP), or early intervention reading programme in English for poorly performing students in a Singaporean lower primary school, uses Malay -thus translanguaging-, to translate vocabulary and foster English grasp, whilst closing the teacher-student talktime gap and altering students' response attempt behavior.
