The tension between prioritized standardized English language use in Malaysian business contexts and contextualized or localized language use as authentic (and efficient localized workplace) language skill, can affect intercultural communication competence (ICC). Three studies that evidence such tension in the localized Malaysian and globalized business contexts are debated ensuing an inquiry of ICC in Anglo-American contexts.
