Annotation

This case study explored how one teacher (in)directly controlled two rivalling discourses in an intermediate Spanish heritage language (HL) classroom: on the one hand, teaching ‘Standard Spanish’ to make students attain professional success, and justifying home linguistic practices on the other. The results add to a comprehension of the role of US educational institutions in ideology construction about Spanish and offer information that may be employed to better HL instruction.
