Annotation

This paper explores the link between pronoun choice and identity in additional language academic writing by first generation immigrants in Norway, asserting that language learners notify solidarity with certain subject positions via pronoun use. Exploring English-language texts debating themes linked to language maintenance and immigration, immigrant students rather appear to identify with the Norwegian host country, than to dissociate themselves from it. However, they are also inclined to identify with immigrants as a pan-national group.
