It is demonstrated that recontextualizing political actions and actors to de/legitimize specific interpretations of political reality based on distinction and lockout polarizes Facebook discussions. The distinction between in- and out-groups are underscored and commentators are motivated to rank themselves in discursively constructed antagonistic sociopolitical communities, ranging from entirely depictured communities, to the online recreation of true ethno-sectarian groups.
