This article uses the latest debates on the cultural turn in Political Economy as a basis to cultivate the notion of a Discursive Political Economy of Economics. It demonstrates how discourse and power connect and argues that the power of economic expert discourses in the media, politics and the political economy is based on an haughty dispositif which appeared in the academic world of US economics as a ‘superiority myth’.
