Despite an advanced national language policy, South African schools have progressively started off English as only learning and teaching language (LoLT). As to the as yet unadressed teacher voices in the ‘best’ LoLT debate, they are sharply conscious of the multilingual context, which is mirrored by their opinions and decision-making.
