Annotation

Flemings in colonial Congo and Afrikaners in South Africa, settled in two diverse historical, political and cultural environs, combatted a similar battle for Dutch in Africa, discursively building an ethnolinguistic ‘fraternity’ between them. Whilst at the outset, they solely targeted their own audiences, since the 1920s, some of these discourse producers directly addressed one another.
