Annotation

This study compares the integration of English in informal written Flemish and South African, Kenyan, Nigerian, Ghanaian and Sierra Leonean chat and texting data, by non-native or L1 English speaking teens and young adults. The groups notably share ‘universal’ English chatspeak characteristics, whilst differences may be imputable to local contexts and the medium.
