This paper flays the Chichewa Board, a Malawi language academy (1972-1995), designed to assemble a Chichewa dictionary, develop a standard orthography, and add to Chichewa general growth, and criticizes its successor, the Centre for Language Studies. President Banda was very conducive for the institution and performance of the former's functions.
