Annotation

The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus played a major role in advancing the Oromo language, when prior regimes forbade vernaculars, and when Ethiopia's democratic government became more approving. The reasons of the conflict over its use in a church setting are distinguished, as well as how the clash was fixed and what impact it had on Oromo development.
