Annotation

This study explores the effect of syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic knowledge limits on a team’s capacity to elaborate a (collective) transactive memory system (TMS) for knowledge coordination in groups. Syntactic and pragmatic knowledge limits negatively impact TMS elaboration, which expands TMS theory beyond the information-processing perspective, handling knowledge as a storable, retrievable object, to interpretive and practice-based knowledge views, which admit that knowledge (especially specialized knowledge) is located in practice.
