Minority language standardisation (MLS) may generate a new type of slur for those who cannot fulfill the new codified standard (Lane 2011). This study examines MLS as a kind of technology, centering on actors who oppose or even dismiss standardisation (aspects). Insights are applied to (Northern Norway) Kven standardisation, with a special focus on how standard users are inscribed and configured, standards' lockout results and non-users' positions.
