Annotation

Drawing on various linguistic and anthropological fields (communication ethnography, CDA, interactional sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology and social psychology), multidisciplinary nexus analysis (NA) mainly focuses on the intricate relations between discourse and social actions, highlighting how social actors can do things either with words or with other semiotic and material means. This results in a striking shared interest with pragmatics, also as to their view on context. Context and language (or other semiotic means) are vital objects of study in NA. There are also shared concerns and theoretical underpinnings with CDA, but in contrast to a lot of CDA inquiry, NA always applies to the micro level.
