This article, which is part of a greater postdoctoral research, explores, in the light of the dialogue between Pragmatics and French Discourse Analysis, the notion of aphorization, as proposed by Dominique Maingueneau (2006, 2008, 2010, 2012). It has attempted to observe its use in Brazilian and French magazines, as a resource to influence readers, in particular via the changes that this sort of utterance experiences in the highlighting process.
