Following feminist campaigner and journalist Caroline Criado-Perez’ succesful attempt to swap Elizabeth Fry's image on the UK's £5 note with the image of another woman, she became the victim of sustained misogynistic abuse on Twitter, involving rape and death threats. This paper uses corpus analysis (of tweets gathered during a three month period in which the events happened, i.e. July to September 2013) to examine online discourse communities’organization as they respond to and take part in inordinate online Twitter misogyny and it uses discourse analysis to investigate how these communities build their identities.
