This study investigates how doctors and patients discursively trace liability for patients’ poor health after treatment recommendations in South-western Nigerian hospitals. It unveils doctors’ use of simplified language which eases doctor-patient consultative interaction, and proves helpful in negotiating responsibility and establishing a more efficient medical procedure on patients, yet also discloses doctors’ casual communication of deficient and fallacious information, usage of oppressive interactive power and or refusal to agree to clinical errors.
