Annotation

This conversation analytic study explores a group of sequences entailing playful turns that are not directly expressly framed as risible via laughter. Rather, laughter by the same speaker happens after or in overlap with the recipient's response. Components of the turns add to their playfulness, like employing over-coloured, formal and colloquial language. However, they are inconsistent as they also perform serious work. Many are first pair parts like questions.
