This study explores how pseudo-intimacy is discursively established in host-caller interactions in an Italian phone-in radio program in Australia from the very start, callers being mainly elderly dialectophone migrants. Pseudo-intimacy can serve as repair easing strategy when linguistic problems emerge and the host intervenes to secure a fortunate interactional result, whilst offering a social space for a group whose voice is not frequently perceived in the public field.
