Annotation

This study collates two distinct (yet of co-occuring) responses to informings that are somehow significant in the given context, in naturally occurring Icelandic talk-in-interaction, Nú indexes the content of the prior turn as novel and abrupt, er það marks that a validation or developmen is required before the informing can be wholly adopted. Besides, it is demonstrated that an overlap of prosodic cues can mold the function of the response and convey an affective stance (e.g. empathy or a certain surprisingness).
