This study demonstrates that throughout a crisis situation, the US Air Traffic Control Communications (ATCO) and the pilot of Flight 1549 changed over from a routinized (scripted) to a conversational type of interaction, and now and then to a ‘hybrid’ format which united components of regular ATC talk with sections of a normal conversational exchange system.
