This study inserted lines into text-messaging conversations that were incoherent either regarding task-pertinent information or the interlocutor's gender. More than a third of interactants did not perceive the incoherence. This proves that information transfer in linguistic interaction is, contrary to common belief, not soundly verified or managed.
