Examining knowledge sources and frameworks used by Puerto Rican Taíno to back their recognition as native Taíno, a population decimated between the 16th and 18th centuries, this study points out the role of prognostic narratives and communicative strategies in reframing and rejuvenating Taíno historical tellings and in remodeling social actors' personal paths as Taíno.
