This paper explores growth, interactional functions and reciprocation of self-mockery, in Isfahan university dorm face-to-face multi-party interactions. It seems to rise as reply to other-prefaced humor or indignity exhibition, achieves self and other face upkeep and solidarity and inserts returned diversion. Response strategies' relative fitness may rely upon which interactional self-mockery function the recipient wants to attain.
