It is argued that critical ethnographic analyses lead in grasping migrant “integration” regimes in the global North beyond policy spheres, fostering consideration of situated practices, new social categories and types, political-economic bets, linguistic de(connection) logics, and mono- and multilingual social order rendition. To unravel this complex, the three essential processes of categorization, selection, and activation are rendered.
