Annotation

Both first and second generation expatriate Kurds in the US consider their language as cultural identity and survival symbol and ways of constructing and preserving intragroup relations in the US and the homeland, and also heritage connections. Second generation members regard language as one of the most defying cultural heritage components to maintain for numerous linguistic, cultural, socio-economic, and political motives. But there is no hopeful future as long as heritage languages in the US are solely deemed personal choices.
