This corpus-based study tries to uncover the Czech majority’s not fully overlapping image of the Others and their native languages. There is a growing expectancy for national minorities and immigrants to obtain Czech competence. Multilingualism in the Czech majority perspective is not conceived as nourishing a community where plural languages coexist.
