Annotation

This article contextualises the linguistic and sociocultural history of Sephardic Jews in Morocco after their ouster from the Iberian Peninsula and until 1860, the year of the Spanish military ivasion of North Morocco. It diachronically examines political, social, cultural and economic causes of the decay of Haketia, one of the most allegoric icons in the collective memory of novel communities of Hispano-Moroccan Sephardic Jews, and considers the idiom's actual situation, forwarding glottopolitical reflections on its evolution.
