Annotation

This paper examines the link between language policies and language ideologies in Equatorial Guinea and West Africa. It is shown that Pichi is the most deprived of the West African English-lexicon creoles with regard to diverse sociolinguistic features. It is claimed that linguistic ideologies on Pichi have greatly added to neglect language policy options for improving its status and enlarging its uses in Equatorial Guinea. Pichi is even so awaited to develop its social functions by gently occupying extra spheres of use as has been attested for the other English creoles of West Africa.
