Annotation

This paper explores Ogu people's contradictory stance towards their minority language, as questionnare research shows 80% of respondents wanting to maintain Ogu, whereas ten years of participant observation disclosed these people scarcely identified with Ogu. This ambivalent attitude is considered as additional proof of the deficiency and shadiness of the questionnaire as empirical research tool.
