This analysis of the Isan Culture Maintenance and Revitalisation Programme's (ICMRP) multilingual signage survey, reveals a positive participant stance towards multilingual Thai–Isan (Thai Lao)–English signage in Khon Kaen Province municipal regions, and informaton on self-reported Thai Lao proficiency, and on frequency and domain of use. Thai Lao identity though is a particularly delicate issue ensuing the 2014 coup, as the local population, municipalities, and academic institutions came under severe Thai military government control, which may have influenced survey outcomes.
